This course is ideal if you’re looking to reach higher and move into a more strategic career. Although the focus of the course is clearly on marketing, it positions the subject within the wider contexts of business and strategy. It opens up a potentially varied and well-paid career – and one with excellent prospects, since the perceived value of the marketing function continues to increase among the most senior executives.
If you pass 2 specific modules on this course, you’ll be eligible to be awarded the CMI Level 7 Certificate in Strategic Management and Leadership (you’ll need to register as a CMI member and pay the membership fee).
You’ll be taught by friendly, helpful tutors who are determined to offer you a stimulating and intellectually challenging learning experience. They all have extensive prior careers in international marketing and business as well as diverse academic experience. Several are research-active, have been published, and/or present conference papers. This experience feeds directly into your learning, helping to enrich your experience. The course leader is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
Your tutors will minimise their use of conventional teaching methods, preferring exposure to the world of work both within and beyond the classroom. You’ll have opportunities for business simulations, live client projects and consulting opportunities. You’ll hear marketing practitioners share their inspirational stories and attend lectures from high-profile business figures. You could participate in the Google Online Marketing Challenge and enjoy visits to leading marketing-related trade events.
Every taught module on this course has been designed to deliver an international perspective. You’ll explore the global issues affecting marketing and business, including aspects of ethics, sustainability, cross-cultural working, business methods and legal/regulatory frameworks. This will equip you to work for a multi-national, or a company rooted in one country but which trades with other countries. You could also arrange to do your internship overseas – perhaps in your home country.
To achieve success in marketing leadership, you’ll need to use continually evolving practices to respond to continual changes in the market and consumer behaviour. That’s why this MBA course explores the latest thinking and developments in marketing and management practice, encouraging students to ask questions and suggest solutions which challenge conventional wisdom. The course will expand your ability to find the data and insights you’ll need to make well-informed decisions – a skill which will serve you well throughout your business career.
