Your Student ID card
Access to services: Your student ID card is essential for accessing a wide range of campus facilities. Whether you're entering the library or using computer labs your ID card acts as your personal key. It ensures that only enrolled students can use these resources, helping maintain a secure and efficient environment for study and recreation.
Attendance monitoring: Your student ID card is also important for keeping track of your attendance. At many lectures and seminars, you’ll scan your card when you arrive. This helps us to support your learning and check in if you miss a few sessions. It’s a simple way to stay connected and make sure you’re getting the most out of your time here.
Remember your card is just for you - never give it to anyone else to use.

Replacing your ID card
If you’ve lost it or it’s damaged, here’s how you can get a replacement.
Check if your lost Student ID card has been handed in
If your ID card is handed in at University House reception we will send you an email to let you know we have it ready for collection, we will also send a reminder 2 weeks later to let you know.
Our policy is to keep lost ID cards for up to 4 weeks, so they need to be collected within this window otherwise you will have to apply for a replacement card.
How to apply for a replacement card:
- Fill in the application form - Lost, stolen, or damaged Student ID cards can be replaced at a cost of £10. You will need your Student ID number, personal details, and a credit or debit card to make the payment online (we are unable to take cash payments at the Reception). You will need to fill in an online application form.
- Take the receipt to University House reception- Upon completion of payment, you will immediately receive a receipt by email. Present your receipt at University House reception and you will be able to collect your new card. You can show the email on your phone or print it out. You will not be able to pick up a card on behalf of someone else.
Temporary Student ID card
If you forget your card, then you must obtain a temporary card from University House Reception before attempting to attend your class or use any university facilities and services. Students can request one temporary card a term, and will then be charged a fee for a replacement card thereafter.
Tip: The temporary card will not work on the Touchpoint machine, so you won’t be able to use it to record your attendance. Please speak to your lecturer and ask them to update your attendance manually if you are using a temporary card or if you have no card.
