Get to know your student support areas

Being a student is an exciting time, but it’s not always easy. Our Student Support Services Directory is a useful tool when you need some help. This guide tells you about the support services and resources you can access.

Counselling and Mental Health Services

Use the student portal to self-refer for short term counselling with our Counselling and Mental Health service. You’ll get an initial assessment to agree your ongoing support needs.

If you're getting support from the Mental Health service, you can continue accessing help throughout your course. You can book follow-up appointments online whenever you need to and you won’t need to go through a new referral each time.

To find out more, visit our page and access the Counselling and Mental Health service contact care.culc@coventryac.uk

Students can also get help at The Hub (1st Floor)

Coventry University Students’ Union (CUSU)

Your Students’ Union (SU) is a charity working independently from the university to support and represent students. As a Coventry University Group student, you’re automatically a member. You can get involved by joining a club or society, becoming a Course or College Rep, or putting yourself forward as an Elected Officer. Find out more about the Students’ Union and access its services.

Disability Support Services

Disability Services work with students to help remove barriers and make student life more accessible and inclusive for everyone.

They offer personalised support for students who:

  • are disabled
  • are neurodivergent
  • have a long-term health condition
  • have a Specific Learning Difference (SpLD), like dyslexia

Support is available from when you apply, right through to graduation. This can include things like arranging reasonable adjustments, accessing useful technology, or getting advice about funding and assessments.

They’ll work with you to understand what you need and help you get the most out of university life.

What support is available?

If you’re eligible for the Disabled Students’ Allowance (DSA), you may be able to access:

  • specialist note-taking
  • one-to-one study skills tuition (for example, dyslexia support)
  • mentoring

If you’re not eligible for DSA, we may still be able to offer you similar support. You can also book 30-minute sessions with a specialist tutor to get personalised study support.
