Meet your visa requirements
When you arrive in the UK, you must show the following to an Immigration Officer:
- Your passport
- Your visa approval confirmation
- A digital e-visa (PDF or screenshot from your UKVI account)
Visit the Visa FAQs page for more details.
eVisa
- Set up your UKVI account to view and prove your immigration status
- Save a PDF or screenshot of your digital status to carry with you
- Use your share code to prove your immigration status during your Right to Study check and enrolment
Note: The UKVI account used to apply for your visa is not the same as the account used to view and prove your immigration status. You’ll receive an email invitation to set up your e-visa account after your visa is approved. Do not try to create this account before receiving the email.
What is a share code?
A share code is a secure way to prove your immigration status online. You’ll need to provide this code to the university during your Right to Study check if you have an e-visa.
- Log in to your UKVI account
- Select “Prove your status”
- Choose “For a university” as the reason
- Generate your share code and copy it
Prepare for your Right to Study (RTS) check
If you’re paying international fees (even if you hold a British or Irish passport), you must attend an in-person RTS check with the Compliance Team.
- This check confirms your eligibility to study in the UK
- You cannot complete enrolment without passing this check
Bring the following documents:
- Passport
- Visa decision letter or e-visa proof
- Share code (if you have an e-visa)
- Any other documents listed on the Right to Study page
Final Reminders
- Check your email regularly for updates from UKVI or the Compliance Team
- Keep all visa-related documents safe and accessible
- Attend your RTS check as soon as possible
For full details on the RTS check visit the right to study page.
