Postgraduate degree modular framework

All of our postgraduate degrees are built from modules. These are units of study with set credit values.

Module levels and credits

Each module has a single designated level, shown by the first character of the module code:

  • Level 7 – Postgraduate study

Each credit represents 10 hours of notional total student effort.

Each degree course is designed using modules. Modules are delivered in blocks of 0, 10, 20, 30, 40, 50 and 60 credits.

Full-time master's students usually study 180 credits per academic year with a maximum of 30 credits per block.

Module status

Courses are designed on a mandatory module basis with no options permitted.

You must pass all modules on your course.

Information on modules offered

Each module has a Module Descriptor that outlines:
  • aims and intended learning outcomes
  • indicative content
  • assessment methods
  • essential and recommended reading.

You can find these in the Module Information Directory.
