Course changes and withdrawal

You should check that your course details are correct soon after enrolment using the Student Online Academic Record (SOLAR) system. If you discover any mistakes then raise them with your Course and/or Registry team as soon as possible.

Check my course details on SOLAR

If you wish to switch between full-time and part-time study, speak to your Local Registry Team immediately. Be aware this may affect your funding and visa status - you must ensure you understand these implications before requesting any changes.

Transferring to a differerent course

If you wish to transfer to a different course then you must submit your request within two weeks of the start of the course you wish to transfer to. Further information and details of how to request a transfer may be found on the Student Portal. Please note, the options available to you depend on your visa and/or funding situation, and the academic similarity between your current and intended course.

Withdrawing from your course

If you’re thinking about leaving your course:

  • Talk to your Course Tutor or Director in the first instance, and ensure you have explored all the options available to you.
  • Do not simply stop attending and expect the University to know you have left. Follow the official withdrawal process to avoid tuition fee and student loan charges which could leave you in debt and will affect your future eligibility for education funding.
  • You may still be responsible for accommodation costs after withdrawing, so you should consult your contract and discuss your options with your provider before making your final decision.
  • The point at which you withdraw from your studies affects whether – and how much – refund you may be able to claim.
  • For full details, read the University’s Refund Policy.
