Everything you need to know about credibility interviews
As part of your UK Student visa application, you might be asked to attend a credibility interview. This is a normal part of the process used by UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) to check that your plan to study in the UK is genuine.
How you'll find out
You'll be asked to an interview:
- In an email from UKVI after you apply for your visa
- At your biometric appointment at a visa application centre
- Straight after giving your biometrics, if your interview happens on the same day
What to expect
The interview is usually in English. It might be:
- In person
- By phone
- On a video call
You’ll be asked questions about:
- Your course and why you chose it
- Why you want to study at Coventry University
- What you know about studying in the UK
- Your previous education and future plans
- How you’ll pay for your studies and living costs
- Where you plan to live and how you’ll travel to university
Tips to help you prepare
- Be honest and clear in your answers
- Speak slowly and ask for help if you don’t understand a question
- Show that you’ve done your research on your course and the university
- Be ready to explain why you picked Coventry
Attending the interview is important
If you miss it without a valid reason, your visa application may be refused.
Even if you meet all other requirements, not passing the interview could mean you don't get your visa.
