Travelling to the UK
This is when the international student journey starts. Supporting your students with their travel arrangements and arrival in the UK will make the difference to their success.
Visa application
As soon as your applicant has their Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) letter they can apply for their visa. They need to apply within the three months before the start of their course. Visa applications can take 15 working days (sometimes longer for UKVI).
Accommodation
We encourage students to secure their accommodation before they arrive in the UK. We have a wide range of excellent university-owned and private accommodation on offer to students, these include traditional halls of residence, self-catered and ensuite rooms, all on or close to campus.
Immigration
When travelling to the UK it is important that students keep important documentation and valuable items in their hand luggage, in case they're required to show documents to the Entry Clearance Officer when entering the UK. This also means their valuable items will not be put in the hold so they can keep them safe.
Students should be ready for a long wait to speak to the Immigration Officer. There are long queues so that immigration staff can ensure that everyone is safe and entering the UK with the correct documentation.

Enrolling at university
Our enrolment portal guides students through the formal stages of registering as a student and ends with the student collecting their official student ID card.
Enrolment Portal
Students will receive an email with a link to access our dedicated enrolment portal. They must complete all sections of the portal in order to access everything they need to become a Coventry University student.

Students must confirm their personal details, including term time address
Course details
Students must confirm their course details, including selecting any modules if required
Finance details
Students must confirm their tuition fee balance and how their fees are being paid
Induction through Aula
Students should complete an introduction to our digital learning platform
Right to study check
Students can access information on preparing for their Right to Study check
University email account
Students complete their enrolment by registering for their university email account
Biometric Residence Permit (BRP)
Students must collect their Biometric Residence Permit (BRP) as soon as possible from the collection point they selected when they made their visa application.
Students will need to present their BRP at the Right to Study check.
Note: Some students will have the option to collect their BRP from the university when they attend their Right to Study check.
Right to Study check
The Right to Study (RTS) check ensures we are satisfied each student meets all the criteria to study in the UK. If this check is not successful, they will not be able to complete their enrolment.

Student ID card
This is the last step to becoming an official student with the university. Students can collect their ID as soon as they complete all the sections of the enrolment portal. The website will have further details of where and when.
