We have put together a range of orientation events and activities that you can attend both online and in person from week 0 (before teaching starts in week 1). CUSU – your local Students’ Union events

Welcome to London

CUSU is a charity run by students, for students, to improve your experience at Coventry University London. As a Students’ Union, we want to help you to connect with other students, as well as providing you with opportunities to make a difference or develop your graduate attributes. We’re also here to support you if you hit any bumps in the road, with our free, confidential advice service – SUAC.

As the university experience is a little different this year, CUSU will be hosting a range of online virtual events for new students, to ensure you have a great start to student life.

School Induction and Events

Week 0: School Induction

In the school induction, you will learn more about Coventry University London and the different services, support options and opportunities that are available to you. This sessions will cover a range of topics such as opening a bank account, health and wellbeing, life in the UK, transportation, events and more.

Week 1: Breakfast with Your Academic Department

Coventry University London and CUSU are collaborating to organise a breakfast session for you to meet with the lecturers in your department. You will find out more about their teaching style and background, expectations and much more. It is a great way to get you know your learning community, other students on the course and your lecturers.

Week 2: Drop-in with Student Services

During this drop-in, you can meet with staff from Student Services, to learn more about the support available to students and ask any questions you may have about your specific circumstances.

Week 3: Using the University Systems

During this workshop, we will demonstrate how to us the various university systems such as the welcome portal, Aula, Nova, Solar, timetable, student email and much more. We will also cover processes such as applying for an extension or a deferral and downloading your transcript via HEAR.

For students new to London, this session was touch upon generating your own student status letters, applying for student Oyster cards and registering with a doctor.

Week 4: Meet and Greet Welcome Party

We are keen to continue to provide opportunities for community building. Coventry University London and CUSU are collaborating to organise a fun filled evening for students. This Welcome Party has been organised especially for you – to celebrate the step you have taken to embark on this learning journey with Coventry University London. It is an opportunity for you to meet your fellow students on other courses, academic staff and professional services staff, in an informal relaxed environment. Nibbles, drinks, music and games will be available throughout the evening. There will be prizes to be won for those that engage in the quiz of the evening, which will test your knowledge on things learned during induction! .

During Welcome Week, your Students' Union is focused on making sure you settle in, make friends, explore the city and have a brilliant start to your studies.

Throughout the year we organise a range of fun, educational and inclusive co-curricular and extra-curricular activities, such as events, student-led societies and other activities to really enhance your time at university. As a Union we also work closely with the university to make sure that students’ views and opinions are at the very heart of what we, and they are.
