Lost and found property

Handing in lost property

When an item is handed in, we:

  • Record the date and time it was received.
  • Add a description of the item.
  • Record the owner's name, if known.
  • Note where the item was found.
  • Assign a unique reference number.

The item is then stored securely in our lost property box or safe.

Reporting a lost item

If you've lost an item and it has not yet been handed in, we can record the details on our lost property log. This helps us identify and return the item to you if it is found later.

Valuable and sensitive items

Items that contain personal or sensitive information, such as: credit or debit cards, passports and driving licences, are logged and stored securely in our safe. We will make reasonable attempts to contact the owner using the details available.

Items of monetary value are also stored securely in the safe as soon as they are handed in.II

Claim your lost item

To enquire about or collect a lost item, please visit the Registry Office in room 0.01. You may be asked to provide identification or describe the item before it is returned to you.
