Safeguarding
The University Group believes that all individuals have the right to be educated and learn within a safe environment and is committed to protecting children and adults at risk of harm, from harm, abuse, neglect or exploitation.
The University will act on a report of a concern that a child, young person or adult at risk of harm is suffering, or is at risk of suffering, from harm, abuse, neglect or exploitation.
If you have any concerns about someone’s safety or wellbeing, you can report it confidentially to your Wellbeing Team at welfare.ss@coventry.ac.uk.
The Student Wellbeing team will take responsibility for escalating the referral to the University Designated Lead as appropriate. You will receive an email to confirm that we have received your referral.
We run regular safeguarding drop-in sessions, both in person and online, where you can get advice or raise concerns.
Prevent
The university has a legal duty to protect children, adults at risk, and stop people being drawn into terrorism. This is called the Prevent duty, monitored by the Office for Students.
Prevent means spotting when someone might be at risk of being drawn into harmful activities and helping them get the right support before things get worse.
If you have concerns that a University student or University staff member is being drawn into terrorism, please contact the University's Prevent Lead Prevent.ss@coventry.ac.uk.
