Dr. Hanna Yakavenka
Associate Dean Internationalisation and Business Development
Dr. Hanna Yakavenka has been appointed the Associate Dean Internationalisation and Business Development in 2019, and she is a member of the Campus Executive team.
Building on her extensive expertise of managing complex multi-country International Partnerships Dr. Yakavenka is leading the internationalisation agenda and business development at Coventry University London. While overseeing the multidisciplinary portfolio of academic provision at international partner institutions she leads a diverse and geographically spread team of experts to deliver outstanding learning experience for students ‘Coventry way’.
Prior to joining the Campus Executive team Dr. Yakavenka led the Department of Marketing, Fashion, Hospitality and Tourism at Coventry University London. Under her headship the multi-disciplinary academic team revamped and expanded the curriculum, formalising the links with the industry to better respond to the diverse needs of the learners and ultimately enhancing the employability outcomes of the graduates. Previously Dr. Yakavenka held Senior Academic Link Tutor and MBA Director positions at University of Greenwich. Her passion for innovation and focus on learner needs and expectations saw the MBA become the largest programme in the university and most widely franchised internationally.
She holds a PhD in International Knowledge Transfer from Manchester Metropolitan University and has published in the areas of cross-cultural learning, curriculum design for international learners, and knowledge sharing within peer communities. As a practicing PhD supervisor she is frequently called to externally examine PhD dissertations in UK and internationally.
With over twenty years of experience in Higher Education sector in UK and abroad Dr. Yakavenka has developed a strong international profile and regularly speaks at international conferences, delivers training events, and advises other universities, is an editorial member of peer reviewed academic journals, and an external examiner and advisor.
Dr. Yakavenka enjoys coaching and mentoring staff and shares her expertise at a local school as a governor.
