Student Support
At CU Scarborough, your success is our aim. With this in mind, we offer a comprehensive, in-house student support service available for all students. Our onsite Customer Service Desk also offers a range of face-to-face services covering things such as fee payments, status letters, student ID enquiries and more.
Library & Learning Resources
The Library is where students can access all of the core reading material required for each module. On top of this, students can access electronic resources and laptops which can be loaned free of charge.

Locate
All of our resources are listed on the Locate library catalogue. Locate allows you to search for books, eBooks, journal articles and databases. Wherever possible, all core reading is available to read online, for free, through Locate. By logging into your account you can also renew any items you have on loan and reserve items that are on loan to other readers.
LibGuides
Our LibGuides pages are full of information to help you get the best out of Library resources. You can also book one-to-one support appointments, watch video guides on most of our subscribed platforms, and access curated lists of content which is particularly relevant to your course.
Academic Writing Service
The Academic Writing Service aims to help you fulfil your potential by enabling you to successfully write and study independently while at CU Scarborough. We can help advise and guide you on the important aspects of academic writing and skills, such as planning and structuring essays and reports, improving critical thinking and avoiding plagiarism by referencing correctly.

Wellbeing team
CU Scarborough has a dedicated Student Wellbeing team on hand to support you during your time studying with us. The team is able to provide support on a whole variety of issues including;

Student Reps
Student Reps
Student Reps play a crucial role in shaping the learning, teaching and social environment at CU Scarborough. They sit on committees to ensure that the student experience remains at the heart of the campus.
There is at least one course rep for every year of every course at CU Scarborough. By becoming a Student Rep you can be the voice of students on your course, and make sure you and others on your course get the most out of your time here.
Reps will be elected just after the start of the academic year, so watch out for your opportunity to become a rep and play a vital role in shaping the future of CU Scarborough.

Your Students' Union
As a student at CU Scarborough you have access to the full range of support offered by the Students’ Union.
The Students’ Union offers free independent and confidential advice on issues including debt, housing problems and benefits, the centre also provides personal representation for complaints and disciplinary hearings.
CU Scarborough also has its own independent student societies for all students studying here.
Success coaches
Everyone has the potential to succeed, but sometimes you might need a bit of extra support and guidance. That's why, upon referral or request, you can access your own Success Coach who will be there to help you throughout your university journey.
Our Success Coaches bring with them a wealth of experience and industry knowledge. Your allocated Success Coach will work with you to build a personal Success Plan so you have a clear roadmap to achieve your ambitions. Your Success Plan will be tracked and evaluated against our five pillars of student success:
- Managing studies: Your Success Coach will help you to manage your studies so you can stay on the path to success.
- Access to services: If you need additional support at any point in your academic journey, your Success Coach will connect you to the right services and specialist teams.
- Skills development: Your Success Coach can assist you in developing lifelong skills in areas such as resilience, well-being, budgeting, confidence, and problem-solving, referring you to specialist teams if required.
- Experience: Prepare for life after your studies and the transition into the workplace with the support of your Success Coach.
- Peer mentoring: Your Success Coach will help you connect with peer networks to help you settle in and access peer-to-peer support.
Am I eligible?
If you are a new CU Scarboough undergraduate or foundation student, you can access a Success Coach through self-referral via our engagement team email or through a member of staff putting in a request on your behalf.
