Locate
All of our resources are listed on the Locate library catalogue. Locate allows you to search for books, eBooks, journal articles and databases. Wherever possible, all core reading is available to read online, for free, through Locate.
By logging into your account you can also renew any items you have on loan and reserve items that are on loan to other readers.
LibGuides
Our LibGuides pages are full of information to help you get the best out of Library resources. Here you can access the Library’s catalogue and subscribed databases. You can also book one-to-one support appointments, watch video guides on most of our subscribed platforms, and access curated lists of content which is particularly relevant to your course.
Academic Writing Service
The Academic Writing Service is also based in the Library and aims to help you fulfil your potential by enabling you to successfully write and study independently while at CU Coventry. We can help advise and guide you on the important aspects of academic writing and skills, such as planning and structuring essays and reports, improving critical thinking and avoiding plagiarism by referencing correctly.
You can access the Academic Writing Service via open access drop-in sessions, bookable 1-2-1s, as well as some sessions in subject tutorials and workshops. To book a 1-2-1 appointment, visit our LibGuides page or email the service at learningservices@cuc.coventry.ac.uk.
English Language Support Tutor
The Library is also where the CUC’s English Language Support Tutor is based.
They are here to work with students who speak English as a second or additional language and are struggling with their studies due to their level of English literacy and/or oracy skills. The service aims to improve students’ English proficiency in:
- grammatical range and accuracy
- vocabulary range and accuracy
- pronunciation and intonation
- effective communication (in classes/presentations)
- understanding complex texts.
Students can access the service through Staff referral, by visiting the library, by attending one of our drop-in sessions or by emailing EnglishLanguageSupport.cuc@coventry.ac.uk.
