Adult returners

If you’re feeling nervous that you’re not a ‘typical’ university student, don’t worry. At CU Scarborough, our students are from all walks of life, all ages and from all over the world. Some have been away from education for a while, others come straight from school. So, whether you’re studying an access course or a degree, full-time or part-time, we’ve got lots of support to help you achieve your goals.

The support is massively brilliant. At every stage, from applying to doing the course itself, CU has been on hand to provide great support with everything from enrolment to student finance.

Supporting your studies

There are lots of ways we’ve designed our courses to help you juggle your new study needs with your work and family commitments.

Just two days a week on campus

The rest of your studying can be done in your own time, so you can fit academic work around your work or home life.

There are no end of year exams, so you can forget about long periods of panic fuelled revision. Instead, ongoing assessments vary by course and could include coursework, essays, practical work, group work, tests or presentations.

Starting dates throughout the year

Our course modules are studied in ‘blocks’ of six weeks, and you can start your degree at the start of any block, meaning that you don’t have to wait until September rolls around and you take the leap when you are ready.

Support services

If you feel you need a bit of extra support, our friendly staff are there to help you with academic writing, maths and statistics, using the library and more.

Supporting you

If you’re juggling family, work and academic study then we know it can be difficult to balance everything. Our specialist teams provide support for a wide range of issues or concerns that could affect your health and wellbeing.
