I've really enjoyed working with NITE's SEND Specialist Postgraduate Teacher Apprenticeship. I've worked with trainee teachers and ECTs for a long time, and what I like about this programme is how adaptable it is. Some providers heavily prescribe what you have to focus on every week, but that's not always relevant to the trainee in front of you. With this programme, the observations and mentor meetings can focus on what that teacher genuinely needs at that point in their journey, whether that's classroom practice, workload, wellbeing or preparing for assessments.

The ITT programme led by Coventry is extremely well organised; the course content follows legislation thoroughly and it is very well-structured dovetailing research, theory and practice components with supplementary training courses to enhance the apprentices' understanding. The structure of quality assurances combines written and practical elements with tiered reviews - SBM, Mentors and Visiting Assessors in strong partnership. As a school, we have had very positive outcomes for our ECTs as the course has exacted high standards and expectations. NITE have been forward thinking in allowing us to blend SEND and Mainstream practices which has led to a new SEND PGCE course!
