Here he explains the impact Music teaching can have in secondary schools.
Unlock creative potential
Music is a universal language, but in a secondary school classroom, it is so much more—it is a powerful vehicle for personal expression, emotional intelligence, and cognitive development. Training to teach secondary music offers a uniquely vibrant career where you can inspire teenagers to find their voice, build profound confidence, and unlock their creative potential.
Opening ears - and eyes
Teaching music encourages pupils to think both creatively and analytically. Whether they are composing beats in a digital audio workstation, mastering an instrument, or collaborating in an ensemble, students learn the value of discipline, resilience, and teamwork. By exploring diverse musical genres and traditions, you open their eyes and ears to different cultures and histories, fostering empathy and global awareness.
A reach far beyond the rehearsal room
For aspiring educators, music classrooms are dynamic spaces filled with energy and innovation. You won't just be teaching theory; you will be guiding young people through transformative experiences of creation and performance, helping them build self-esteem that extends far beyond the rehearsal room.
