Collect student ID card

CU Coventry students can collect their ID card from the Reception desk, Mile Lane.

Payment for fees must have reached our accounts by the enrolment deadline. Students are therefore advised to make payments no later than 10 working days before the enrolment deadline to ensure funds are received on time. Funds received after the deadline will mean you are not eligible to re-enrol.

Coming to the UK to study is a bold and exciting decision, and we want to make sure that your journey to starting life as a CU Coventry student is as easy as possible.

What is enrolment and why is it important?

Completing your enrolment opens the door to your student life: your student identity, funding, course information, learning and support resources, student entitlements, discounts and more. Without completing your enrolment, you won’t be able to access everything you need to study, work and live your best CU Coventry student life!

How to enrol

There are many elements involved in getting you fully enrolled on your course and ready to start your student life in the UK. Here you’ll find some simple steps to guide you through everything you need to do before you arrive in the UK and when you get here.

Prepare for enrolment

Step 1: Pay your deposit

In order to be able to book your Credibility Interview, get your Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS)* and complete your enrolment, you are required to have paid a minimum of £8,000 of your total tuition fee. Payments must be cleared funds in the university’s account before the above deadline.

To make sure your payments are secure, you should make your payments to us through Convera GlobalPay. This allows you or your parents to pay for fees via debit/credit card or by bank transfer in the currency of your choice, giving you a simple, quick and secure way to initiate the payment. You’ll see exactly how much you will pay in your own currency and you will be able to track your payment every step of the way.

Please allow at least 5 working days for your payment to reach us as processing times may be longer for certain countries, such as Nigeria. All funds must be cleared into the university’s bank account, we cannot accept payment receipts/proof of payment to enrol.

Step 2: Get your Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) letter

Step 3: Apply for your visa

To study, live and work in the UK, you will need a Student visa. You can apply for this up to three months before your course start date. The application process can take time, so we strongly recommend starting early.

When your visa is granted, you will be invited to set up a UKVI account. This account gives you access to your eVisa, which is your official confirmation of immigration status.

Step 4: Additional payments

If you have paid less than £8,000 you must make an additional payment to be able to complete your enrolment.

If you haven’t paid your tuition fees in full, please ensure you make payments by the tuition instalment deadlines.

We strongly recommend you pay using Convera before you travel in order to avoid delays to your enrolment. When paying with Convera please allow at least 5 working days for your payment to reach us as processing times may be longer for certain countries such as Nigeria.

Once we’ve received this payment and any necessary Right To Study checks are completed, you will be sent an email with a link to complete your enrolment online.

New international students:

To complete your enrolment, your tuition fees must be paid in full or your instalment plan must be set up and the first payment made. Please allow enough time for your payment to be received and processed as international payments can take up to 7 days to arrive. To avoid delays, make your payment well in advance of your enrolment deadline so the funds clear on time.

Returning international students:

As a returning student, you must pay an £8,000 returners deposit and either pay your tuition fees in full or set up your instalment plan with the first payment made before you can complete your enrolment. Please allow enough time for your payment to be received and processed as international payments can take up to 7 days to arrive. To avoid delays, make your payment well in advance of your enrolment deadline, as late payments will prevent you from enrolling and may impact your visa status.

Prepare for your Right to Study (RTS) check

Step 5: Prepare for your Right to Study check

The Right to Study (RTS) check ensures we are satisfied you meet all the criteria to study in the UK, if this check is not successful, you will not be able to complete your enrolment.

Even if you have a British or Irish passport, you will still need to complete an RTS check if you are paying international fees.

The below tells you what documents you will need to prepare for your check.

What you need to do when your eVisa is granted, this must be done before you travel:

Follow all the instructions in your decision letter to create a UKVI account
Access your eVisa and check the details are correct
Link your travel document (e.g. passport) to your eVisa before travelling. For further guidance visit the government website
Get a share code to provide when you are asked to do so.

*Where a non-Student Route student is unable to provide this evidence, or where the visa decision has been under consideration for some time, the ISCT may raise a query via the UKVI Portal to establish that a visa outcome is still pending and that the student has the right to study. The UKVI Portal response is to be included in the Enrolment Pack.

Step 6: Start your enrolment

Once you’ve accepted our offer, look out for our follow-up email – this one takes you to our dedicated student enrolment portal and will walk you through the enrolment process step-by-step.

You’ll then be given access (to the email address you registered with) to your learning materials so you can engage with these before you even arrive in the UK!

You will also be asked what date you expect to arrive in the UK. It’s important you arrive in the UK as soon as your visa allows you to, this will allow you time to settle into your new home, get to know the campus and start to make friends.

Every student who is not a British National, will need a right to study check. Please log into your enrolment portal (Login) and complete the Right to Study Check section.

On a student visa: You will need to come in for a face to face right to study check as well as completing the portal. We are open in the Student Centre (1 Gulson Road, Coventry CV1 2JH) from 13 October 2025, 9am to 3.30pm excluding weekends. Please come for the check as soon as possible.
Not on a student visa: Once you have completed the portal, you will either get an email asking for more information or an email confirming your check is completed.

You should complete your check before your teaching starts on 3 November 2025 to be on time and ready for your course.

If you have not travelled to the UK, completed your check and enrolled by 17 November 2025, you will not be able to enrol.

Step 9: Register for your university email account and Digital Services

Your Coventry University email account allows you to:

Access online platforms such as Aula, SOLAR, and the Student Portal.
Connect to the university wi-fi and log in to campus PCs.
Receive important university communications (after enrolment, most communications will be sent to this account).
Demonstrate your student status for discounts with certain retailers.

How to register:
During enrolment, you will have been invited to create your Coventry University email account (sometimes called your ITS account). If you already have one, you do not need to register again. You must be fully enrolled to register. You’ll also need your Student ID. Follow the steps on the Digital Services registration page to get your username, email address, and set your password.

Tip: You can set up your Coventry University email on your iPhone, iPad, or Android device.

Using your account:

Your username is the part before the “@” in your email address.
Some systems require your username; others require your full email address.
Your password will be the same for both.
If you forget it, you can reset your University Digital Services password.

Step 10: Collect your student ID card

No student ID? No student loan, no access to your accommodation, facilities and services, no important news and updates, no discounts, no fun – it’s that simple.

After you’ve completed your enrolment, you can collect your student ID in person.

Please visit: Customer Service desk at Mile Lane, Coventry.
Times: Monday - Friday, 9am - 4pm.

All students must provide proof of identity and nationality to get a student ID card.

In order to verify your identity, you’ll need to bring the documentation listed in our accepted proof of identity and nationality document.

Online only or distance students: you will not need a student ID card unless you want to access campus facilities and services.
