This tuition-fee funded degree supports you to gain Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) while on placements in primary schools in England, learning alongside experienced school-based mentors.

Course details

This course is designed to help you build a strong foundation in key teaching areas, such as pedagogy, behaviour management, assessment, subject and curriculum knowledge, professional skills and inclusive education, including special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). You’ll have the opportunity to develop the expertise, practical skills and confidence needed to become an effective and inspiring primary school teacher.

Alongside your Introductory Placement practical module, you will complete four 30-credit learning modules per year.

We regularly review our course content, to make it relevant and current for the benefit of our students. For these reasons, course modules may be updated.


Entry requirements

Applicants must:

  • hold a GCSE Grade C/4 or equivalent in maths and English
  • hold a GCSE Grade C/4 or equivalent in science. This can be combined science or a single
  • Level 3 qualifications; for example, A Levels or T Levels, up to or exceeding 104 UCAS points.

If you do not hold GCSE or equivalent qualifications for English, maths or science, you can complete equivalency tests. You can begin your application for the course prior to completion of equivalency tests but you must provide the results before enrolment.

If English is not your first language, you will need to hold an academic IELTS less than three years old, with a score of at least 7 overall with no component less than 6.5, or TOEFL 600. If your qualifications were gained outside the UK, an official comparability statement for non-UK qualifications assessed by UK ENIC must be provided.

In addition, you must have a school willing to support you as your main placement school for the duration of the course.2

Students will be subject to satisfactory health clearance and enhanced criminal record disclosure.
