If you are a middle or senior school leader, or aspire to be one, then this course could be for you. Designed by experienced head teachers, it incorporates a deep set of leadership theories to encourage you to reflect on how your learning can improve your professional practice. If you are employed in an educational organisation in England, your employer can draw down funds from the Apprenticeship Levy to cover the course fee.
Our SLA and MA in Educational Leadership is a taught master’s degree delivered via an online or blended (online and in-person) model. The blended version includes two mandatory 3-day residentials near Milton Keynes2.

This course is designed to include the criteria set by the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) for the CMI Level 7 diploma in Strategic Management and Leadership Practice. It is expected that students who successfully pass the modules Leadership Theory, Leadership of Culture, Leadership of People, Leadership of Teaching and Learning, and Action Research Proposal will be eligible to be considered by CMI for the award as an additional qualification. These modules are undergoing assessment by the CMI to confirm that all criteria are met to the required standard and therefore, until this assessment is completed, remains subject to accreditation. Should CMI accreditation not be received by the time you are due to study this module we will write to you to confirm this status.

Until 31 December 2025, levy-paying organisations in England can draw down funds from the Apprenticeship Levy to cover the full course fee of £14,000 including residentials. No course fees are paid by either the student or levy-paying schools.
Non-levy payers can reserve funding for apprenticeships and only pay 5% of the total cost. The Government covers the remaining 95%.
A university bursary of 100% of the course fee is available to those wishing to include the MA Educational Leadership.
