Travelling to campus

CU Scarborough sits close to the town centre and the seafront, so once you've arrived, getting around day to day is straightforward on foot or by local bus. Getting to Scarborough in the first place takes a little more planning, particularly if you're flying in, since Scarborough isn't directly served by a major airport directly.

By air

  • The nearest airports are Leeds Bradford Airport and Manchester Airport. Scarborough doesn't have its own airport.
  • From Leeds Bradford Airport: take the FLYER bus (route A1), which runs roughly every 30 minutes into Leeds city centre and takes around 25 to 35 minutes. From there, take a direct train to Scarborough (roughly hourly, about one hour fifteen minutes), or the direct Yorkshire Coastliner coach straight through to Scarborough with no change needed, though it's a longer journey by road. Allow around two to three hours in total depending on which you choose.
  • From Manchester Airport: direct trains run from Manchester Airport station to Scarborough, operated by TransPennine Express, though services are limited to a few per day, so check timetables and book ahead. The direct journey takes around three hours.

By train

  • Scarborough railway station is in the town centre, a short journey from most accommodation.
  • Direct or fast connecting services run from York, Leeds, Hull and Manchester, with onward connections to London and most major UK cities. National Rail has live times and journey planning for the whole route.

By coach

  • National Express operates coach services to Scarborough from a number of UK cities, which can be a cheaper option than the train if you're not in a hurry.
  • Yorkshire Coastliner runs a direct coach between Leeds and Scarborough, via Tadcaster, York and Malton, with no need to change. It's a scenic but slower route, worth considering if you'd rather avoid changing trains.
