Apprenticeship End Point Assessment Organisation

Apprenticeship End Point Assessment Organisation (EPAO)

The National Institute of Teaching and Education is approved as an independent End Point Assessment (EPA) organisation for the Postgraduate Teaching Apprenticeship.

We have a large team of experienced and skilled trainee teacher assessors at primary level and across the subject range at secondary. We cover the breadth of the country and ensure that Postgraduate Teaching Apprentices are fully supported through the EPA process.

If you are an employer and have Postgraduate Teaching Apprentices in your school, we would like to support you to conduct the End Point Assessment (EPA) once the Teaching Apprentice has achieved QTS and met the gateway requirements. Please note that an EPAO must be appointed at least three months prior to completing.

The gateway requirements require Apprentices to have achieved the following prior to proceeding with the EPA:

  1. Achieved a minimum of level 2 in Maths and English (these qualifications are a prerequisite for joining the Postgraduate Teaching Apprenticeship training route.

  2. Successfully completed a 12 month Initial Teacher Training (ITT) Postgraduate Teaching Apprenticeship delivered by an approved provider.

  3. Obtained Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) awarded by an accredited ITT provider, having fully met the Teachers’ Standards

In addition, a portfolio of supporting evidence will have been completed during the training.
