Joanne Debond

Joanne is committed to education and passionate about the teaching profession and school-university partnerships. She feels privileged throughout her career to have worked in a variety of educational settings and geographical locations within the United Kingdom and Internationally. She has taught in the independent and maintained sectors across all age phases and key stages as both a practical and classroom –based teacher. Her career has enabled her to undertake different positions of leadership in both Primary and Secondary school settings within a number of subjects including, Physical Education, English, Dance and Drama as-well as pastoral leadership roles.
Whilst working in these settings she was involved in Mentoring PGCE trainees and supporting newly qualified teachers, as-well as organising University subject specific training days. This work led her to writing and delivering a complete subject specific initial teacher training programme for those wishing to train as a Physical Educationalist. She feels humbled to have led this programme for a number of years as it grew and developed before leaving to embark on an exciting new journey with The National Institute of Teaching and Education as the Head of Academic Studies for Secondary.
