Vanessa is a passionate educator who’s teaching philosophy is based on mentorship, experiential learning, inclusivity and interdisciplinary learning. These principles foster a holistic understanding of the subject matter. She currently teaches Managerial Finance, Risk, Governance & Patient Safety in Healthcare and Project Management at the postgraduate level. At the undergraduate level, she instructs on Professional Skills and Academic writing. She also supports internship students on work placements within the UK and Internationally.

Vanessa is committed to fostering a learning environment where students are empowered to reach their full potential, to feel valued and to understand that the learning environment requires active engagement, allowing students to learn from their mistakes and demonstrate growth throughout the process. Students are encouraged to be active learners and critical thinkers, to own their voice and understand the role research plays in their academic journey.

Research and Consultancy

Vanessa’s research interest is in healthcare governance, policy development and management, inspired by voluntary position supporting finance management and psychotherapy practise within the NHS – keen focus in areas where lack of minority representation and cultural differences create barriers and perpetuates disparities to accessing essential Healthcare services.

Vanessa’s long term goal targeted at lecturing, consulting and leading research to allow for a comprehensive examination of the multifaceted relationship between management, finance and governance structures in healthcare which will aid the provision of insight for policymakers, healthcare leaders and organisations seeking to enhance their governance structures.
