Coventry University London has recently launched a staff-students skill workshop series, organised by the Finance and Accounting Team. The main purpose of the workshops is to expand our students’ knowledge of the various aspects of the financial industry and to empower them with valuable tools that they can use to succeed in their future career, particularly students interested in finance. It also acts as a platform where students and the academic team can interact more personally with each other.

Each workshop lasts for an hour and takes place once a week on a termly basis. Topics currently cover areas such as Bloomberg Market Concepts, Valuation using S&P Capital IQ, Corporate Governance, Investment Styles of Fund Managers and Econometrics tools applicable in Economics and Finance as well as many more covering topical financial areas.

Open to students from all programme areas, the workshop series is the first of its kind being organised by the Finance and Accounting Team. It is one of the ways in which the team is providing an extra-curricular in-depth look at the finance industry.

Dr Zeenat Soobedar, Senior Lecturer in the Department of Finance, Accounting, Energy and Law and organiser of the event, says,

“These workshops are a great way for students to become more aware of our areas of interest and expertise and also the various technical and soft skills that we can offer them at Coventry University London. It is also an ideal opportunity for both our students and us to meet and interact outside the classrooms”.
