Overview

The Access to Higher Education programmes are designed specifically for adults who may not have the conventional educational requirements, such as A level qualifications, but would like an opportunity to enter on to a higher education course. The aim of the course is to enable you to acquire the skills, knowledge and confidence to start a degree programme of your choice in order to help you to fulfil your chosen career potential.

This diploma is suitable if you are considering a degree requiring a foundation in science. As well as developing essential study skills in preparation for university study, you will complete modules in anatomy and physiology, nutrition and biochemistry.

This programme is also very popular for entry into Nursing, Midwifery, Paramedic Science and other science related degrees.

Duration and delivery

Attendance is usually required from Monday to Thursday from 9:30am-2pm.

Entry requirements

Access courses are designed for students who have not had the opportunity to access higher education, so formal qualifications are not mandatory.

As part of the application process, an interview and a literacy and numeracy assessment will be required so that our tutors are satisfied that you can benefit from the course and be able to cope with the future requirements of studying in higher education.

Successfully completing an access course will guarantee progression onto a relevant degree course at CU Coventry.

 

Successful completion

In order to achieve the Access to Higher Education Diploma, you must achieve 60 credits at level 3.

The grades available will be Pass, Merit and Distinction on the graded units.

Fees and funding

The fee for 2019-20 is £3,384. If you're aged 19+ funding is available through the Advanced Learners Loan.
