Master of Business Administration (MBA) Top-up for Qualified Chartered Insurance Institute (CII)

The Coventry University Master of Business Administration (MBA) top-up is a 100 per cent online course, specifically designed for Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) members who are seeking to expand their managerial capabilities.

If you are a CII Chartered status holder, you will be credited with 120 of the required 180 credits for your MBA. To complete, you will need to successfully complete the final 60 credits made up of two modules, and a project for your MBA postgraduate award.

This degree has been designed with the intention of providing you with a better understanding of the challenges that your clients may face and prepare you for the real world of business and enterprise. With a strong practitioner focus, personal and skills development is an underlying theme throughout this MBA top-up.

The MBA course is designed to draw from your professional experience, encouraging you to constantly apply theory to practice. It aims to enhance your capabilities to think critically, deal with ambiguity, and seek solutions to complex business problems. It provides you with the opportunity to develop core knowledge of business models and concepts, and a strong understanding of processes and practices, in order to develop your leadership, financial and project management skills.

How does online learning work?

Coventry University has collaborated with FutureLearn, which is a social learning platform. Modern online courses are designed to offer you an interactive learning experience, using video, quizzes, reveals and more. The ability to access video and audio content and arrange to virtually connect with tutors and fellow students is just a few clicks away.

Instead of attending lectures and working with a fixed timetable, you can study at a time and place to suit you. During the MBA top-up course, Coventry University provides access to an online library, the Centre for Academic Writing, sigma (maths and statistics support) and a range of other support services, as well as tutor support and 24/7 access to the virtual learning environment, FutureLearn.

How to apply

  • Learners who are fully qualified Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) members and meet the entry criteria identified below are awarded 120 credits of Accreditation of Prior Learning and will be required to study a further 60 credits online in order to complete the award.

    The entry requirements are:

    • To be a qualified Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) member (copy of certificate required).
    • To have a minimum of two years of post-qualification work experience in a management /administrative/professional capacity (CV and professional reference required).
    • To hold an IELTS 6.5 (or equivalent), if English is not the learner's first language (certificate required).
  • The MBA top-up recognises the prior academic achievement of Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) members by granting learners an advanced standing, allowing them to fast-track to an MBA. Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) members will be required to complete 60 credits through a combination of course work and a project.

    Learners are required to study one 15 credit module in their first semester, a second 15-credit module in their second semester and a 30-credit project in their third semester, which completes the course.

    The mandatory modules that learners will be required to successfully complete are:

    • 7011SSL - Leadership and Change Management (15 credits)
    • 7000SMM - Global Marketing (15 credits)
    • 7005SSL - The MBA Consultancy Project (30 credits)

    A 15-credit module implies a study load of 150 hours, which includes preparation, online participation and group-work, and assignments.

  • The fee for the complete MBA Top ups (CIMA, CPAm CII) is £20,300.

    Because of your advanced standing, you are only required to pay 1/3rd of the tuition totalling £6,766,66.

    • Semester 1 – Leadership and Change Management = 15 credits - £1,691.66
    • Semester 2 – Global Marketing = 15 credits - £1,691.66
    • Semester 3 – Consultancy Project = 30 credits - £3,383.32

    Additionally, for the first 100 students, a discount of £1K is available.
