The aim of this 1-day course is to provide an overview of environmental sustainability, equipping attendees with the knowledge and skills to make positive changes towards meeting the needs of current and future stakeholders while improving their environmental performance.

Through a series of practical activities and workshops, this IEMA certified training course will explore environmental risks and opportunities, compliance obligations, and key sustainability issues.

The training finishes with a 20-minute multiple-choice assessment and IEMA certificates are provided to all participants following the course.

This course gives managers and leaders the knowledge and skills to make a positive contribution to towards their environmental performance and the environmental sustainability of their business.

Delegates on this IEMA certified course are assessed by a combination of continuous assessment and a multiple-choice assessment.

The 2-day course will ensure all delegates leave with a good understanding of environmental sustainability risks as well as the ability to identify opportunities to improve their team’s environmental sustainability performance.

This course incorporates the IEMA Environmental Sustainability Skills for the Workforce training on the first day, so those who have already attended this course only need to complete 1 additional day.

This course aims to provide clear guidance to supervisors and leaders through a strategic and operational overview of environmental sustainability as it affects their specific industry and work area.

This 2-day interactive course complements our 1-day Carbon Management training course and the two are scheduled to run together in our course calendar for those who wish to focus their sustainability training.

Who should attend?

This course is ideally suited for supervisors and managers across all sectors who wish to understand how to help their organisation to Net Zero.

While the course has no formal entry requirements it is strongly recommended that delegates are already in a practising role that will allow them to more clearly understand the areas explored during the course.

Overview

This highly interactive, 5-day course goes beyond traditional environmental compliance concepts to explore the bigger picture of environmental issues and how they present challenges to organisations worldwide. The expert tutor will lead delegates through workshops and case studies to allow practice of the tools and skills they will learn that they can apply in the workplace.

Course assessment for the Certificate is through continuous assessment and a 1-hour open-book multiple-choice exam.

Who should attend?

This IEMA Foundation Certificate in Environmental Management course is designed for anyone who holds responsibilities for environmental improvements within the workplace.

This includes:

• those starting a career in environmental management
• anyone already part of an environmental scheme within their business
• anyone new to an environmental role and wanting to gain environmental and sustainability expertise
• individuals seeking to become an Associate Member of IEMA (AIEMA).

Overview

This course will provide you with detailed environmental and sustainability knowledge as well as allowing you to be able to apply environmental management/assessment tools and skills that are needed to be an effective environment/sustainability practitioner.

The Guided Learning Hours (GLH) for the Certificate in Environmental Management course is a minimum of 120 hours or 15 days (excluding breaks and assessment). The course will normally be delivered across 3 taught modules and a 4th module consisting of a submitted Assessment of Competence. The modules are:

• Module 1: Fundamentals of Sustainability, Business and Governance
• Module 2: Environmental Principles, Policy and Legislation
• Module 3: Environmental Management/Assessment Tools and Skills
• Module 4: Assessment of Competence

The full course should be completed within 12 months.

The IEMA Certificate in Environmental Management is designed for:

Anyone working within environmental management and require detailed knowledge of environmental/sustainable principles, management tools and skills to effectively deliver positive change.

Those who have attained a foundation level of environmental / sustainability knowledge gained through work experience or a relevant course e.g. the IEMA Foundation Certificate in Environmental Management or equivalent.
