Coventry University Group is set to support businesses nationwide after being given the green light to deliver apprenticeships.

The university group has been accepted on the Register of Apprenticeship Training Providers (RoATP) under the government’s new apprenticeship legislation.

The group will now continue to deliver apprenticeships at Coventry University and CU Coventry, formerly known as Coventry University College, and launch new apprenticeship divisions at its campuses in Scarborough and East London.

Aidan Friend, Chief Operating Officer of CU Coventry, is leading an ambitious apprenticeship strategy to become the biggest provider of higher and degree apprenticeships, which allow students to earn a full-time wage and study for higher level qualifications at the same time.

He said that the move will enable the group to become a nationwide apprenticeship provider and support businesses across England thanks to its wide geographical scope.

Aidan said:

We are delighted to have been accepted on the Register of Apprenticeship Training Providers.

It was a very rigorous application process in which we had to demonstrate that we offer high quality education, have the ability to deliver apprenticeships and are financially stable, so although we were on the old register there was no guarantee we would be accepted.

We have an excellent history in delivering work-based learning and apprenticeships, and this is a further endorsement of our quality as we look to become the number one provider of higher and degree apprenticeships.

While we have a strong desire to help grow the West Midlands economy, we cover a wide geographical area with presences in both London and Scarborough and are able to deliver apprenticeships nationwide, which makes us quite unique.

This is a great opportunity for us to continue running the programmes we already offer as well as enabling us to deliver apprenticeships for new businesses across England.

Many providers work in very focused areas, however our vast range of expertise means that we are able to offer a wide scope of programmes and now look forward to developing this further.
