NITE and LLSE are looking to launch a 'one-stop shop' for teacher training

Current and budding teachers could soon be given greater opportunity of having a rewarding career thanks to a collaboration between the National Institute of Teaching and Education (NITE) and Leadership Learning Securing Excellence (LLSE).

NITE has joined forces with National Professional Qualifications (NPQ) provider LLSE to work together to explore opportunities to launch a ‘one-stop shop’ for teacher qualifications from Initial Teaching Training (ITT) through NPQs, Coaching and MAs specialising in SEND, Mentoring, Teaching and Educational Leadership.

It comes after a Memorandum of Understanding was signed by Coventry University College Limited (trading as NITE), which is part of Coventry University Group, and LLSE Community Interest Company. It is hoped the collaboration will give current and budding teachers a greater opportunity of having a rewarding career.

Recruitment of teachers in England was 16,500 short of the Department for Education’s target in 2023 and the problem is compounded by the significant numbers leaving teaching, often due to insufficient opportunity, capacity and funding for effective continuing professional development.

Teacher training and development is delivered by many providers and the collaboration between NITE and LLSE could help create a seamless progression that supports teachers from the start of their career through to as high as they wish to aim.

A number of schools across England are now being offered the chance to take up the opportunity to benefit from training qualifications from one provider, which it is hoped could help boost teacher recruitment and retention.

Both NITE and LLSE set the standard within their respective teacher education programmes, which makes this collaboration so exciting. As a result, we hope teachers and school leaders in the UK and abroad could benefit from an increased suite of training, education degrees and professional development both online and in-person. It is envisaged that these will include Initial Teacher Training, Master’s programmes and the full range of NPQ courses.

We are committed to providing our training programmes at the most competitive prices, utilising where possible the apprenticeship levy, which enables so many of our courses to be fully funded.

LLSE are thrilled to be collaborating with NITE to explore opportunities to offer a golden thread of professional development opportunities to support teachers and leaders to flourish and excel throughout their careers. Together we aim to nurture their professional development and all our courses ensure they receive impactful, high-quality, evidence-informed practice designed and delivered by educational specialists.

The Department for Education has confirmed that funding remains available for NPQ cohorts launching this October - if eligible we strongly recommend taking advantage of this opportunity for you and your school.
