Coventry University London Campus was invited to attend the UK’s Largest Youth Speed Networking Event, on 22nd October at the Lord’s Cricket Ground. The London Campus was represented by members of the Human Resource Management and Careers and Employability Team; John Watkins, Jo Blissett, Aaron Taylor and Roopa Nagori.

Hosted by the Mayor of London, over 700 students from central London aged 13-15 attended the event to receive information on career opportunities and future prospects. They had the opportunity to meet 600 other employers and universities within London, including representatives from Harrods and Twitter through a series of “speed networking” activities.

Having compiled a list of questions in advance of the event, students approached the various organisations to discover helpful hints and tips on how to begin putting their career plans into place.

Staff at the London Campus described the key skills that are important to a career, such as organisational, team working, networking and communication, whilst also offering the students an insight into their own personal career journeys.
