Coventry University London is pleased to announce the launch of the Joey Leong Coventry University London Scholarship. In partnership with alumni and award-winning Malaysian film star Joey Leong, the scholarship is available for Malaysian students applying for October 2018 entry.
Already a movie star in her home country of Malaysia, with a filmography including blockbuster Asian movies such as Blood Ties (2009), The Second Coming (2013) and Our Sister Mambo (2015), Joey Leong recently pursued a degree in the UK, choosing to study a one year top-up course at Coventry University London. Joey graduated with a first class BA (Hons) degree in Global Business in 2016. During her time at Coventry University London, Joey held the role of International Student Ambassador, helping to develop relationships between the Coventry University Group and Malaysia’s Higher Education institutions.
Reflecting on her time studying at Coventry University London, Joey said:
“Studying Business at Coventry University London was outstanding. The teaching staff were amazing and the skills I have acquired on the course has helped me in many aspects of my career. London is such an inspiring place and studying in the City allowed me to experience everything it has to offer. I am very proud to be part of this new scholarship scheme which I hope will give another student a life enhancing opportunity.”
Successful applicants will receive the first year fees of a Coventry University London three year undergraduate course as their scholarship award. As part of the partnership with Coventry University London, successful applicants will also have the opportunity to meet Joey in Malaysia prior to their journey to the UK.
As part of Coventry University’s commitment to help develop the enterprise and entrepreneurship educational ecosystem in Malaysia, representatives of the University recently conducted a 2-day workshop in Kuala Lumpur in collaboration with the Malaysian Ministry of Higher Education. Held in Universiti Malaya, the event brought together international academics to discuss the ways in which education can support enterprise and entrepreneurship in Malaysia. At the event, Coventry University launched the South East Asia Institute for Transformational Entrepreneurship (SEAITE) at Tunku Abdul Rahman University College (TAR UC). The launch of SEAITE aims to spearhead focus on enterprise and entrepreneurial education and continuously build capacity and capability through research-led programmes.
