The project title is ‘An Analysis of the Influence of Institutions on CSR Approaches: A Transnational Comparison of MNCs in the Automotive Industry’.
Malte Busch’s research focus is on CSR and institutions. More specifically, he concentrates on the influence of formal and informal institutions on the CSR approaches of MNCs in the automotive industry. In the course of this investigation, the German and British institutional frameworks as well as the European institutions play a key role.
The director of studies is Dr. Andrew Perchard. He brings in his research on economic history, the interplay of business, society and institutions, and the geopolitical effects of the increasing scarcity of raw materials. Further members of the supervisory team are Dr. Jason Begley and Professor Tom Donnelly – who enrich the project with their expertise in the automotive industry – and Dr. Albert Jolink.
Malte Busch grew up in Heidelberg (Germany) and obtained his B.A. from the Deggendorf Institute of Technology in 2008. During his studies, he spent some time in Peru and Taiwan. Malte worked for several companies, among others for Siemens Wind Power in Denmark, during and after his Bachelor studies. In 2014, he graduated with a MSc. (with distinction) in International Management (MIM) at the Strathclyde Business School in Glasgow. His Master Thesis has been awarded for the best MIM Project in academic year 2013/14. Malte is currently doing a full-time PhD, which aims to understand and to evaluate how formal and informal institutional frameworks in different countries influence the CSR approaches of MNCs in the automotive industry.
