Biography

 

Prior to taking up his current post at Coventry University, Mark held a number of senior management positions in Tata Steel and its predecessors in the commercial, general management and strategy development areas. Mark was Business Strategy Manager for Tata Steel, which included a significant focus on establishing and supporting development centres based around renewable energy, in partnership with other industrial organisations, universities and government.

Mark has expertise in the Construction, Renewable Energy, Packaging, Automotive and Consumer Goods sectors and has significant international experience. He currently sits on the Deeside Enterprise Zone Board and is a Visiting Research Fellow at Chester University.

Mark grew up in Yorkshire and spent ten years in South Wales before moving to the Midlands in 2000. He has an MA in Modern Languages (French and German) from St John’s College Cambridge and an MBA from Warwick Business School.

Roles and Responsibilities

Mark is responsible for the development of large scale projects and strategic partnerships across the University. This includes developing business cases, funding proposals, collaborative agreements and programmes, and leading multi-disciplinary project teams comprising Academic and Professional Services personnel. The projects are typically multi-faceted covering both collaborative research and teaching and learning, and are often multi-disciplinary in nature.
