Snow updates

Snow warning

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for Coventry, London and Scarborough on Sunday 18 March.

We will use this page to keep you updated on what this means to the University.

Guidance for students

We understand that adverse weather can cause disruption to travel arrangements. While we do expect examinations/assessments (if you are taking them) and course attendance to continue as normal, if you’re unable to make it to your exams/assessments due to the weather then please contact your faculty registry as soon as possible (by email or telephone) to request a deferral or extension. Please be assured we’ll consider requests sympathetically.

In the case of severe weather, if you can travel then please make sure you allow sufficient time to reach the examination/assessment venue. However, do not put yourself at risk to get to your exam/assessment either on campus or in travelling to the university.

Please see guidance from registry about what to do in extenuating circumstances (log-in required) or visit the registry page on the student portal.

Remember: the university will be open for examinations/assessments and normal timetabling unless a specific announcement is made via Moodle, on this page or on the university’s main social media channels.

Staff: Severe weather policy

The University's Severe Weather Policy gives guidance on what to do in the event of adverse conditions, such as snow or extreme winds.

It may occasionally be difficult for staff to travel to work, so the policy outlines what to do if weather conditions cause disruption or what happens when normal working becomes impossible.
