University Scholarships

The information below relates to 2014 entry.

For truly outstanding undergraduate candidates a scholarship may be available. Coventry University Scholarships are awarded to recognise truly exceptional academic and sports achievement. There are four competitive scholarships that Coventry University can offer to help students with the costs of their education for the academic year 2014/2015. However, subject to conditions, each of these scholarships can be renewed for each year of study. All of these scholarships have specific qualifying requirements; to apply for a scholarship, students must:

  • be a UK applicant to Coventry University or Coventry University London Campus;
  • have applied for a full- or part-time undergraduate degree course (with the exception of Sports);
  • be paying the full tuition fees for their course and mode;
  • select Coventry University as their first choice (CF or UF);
  • meet all the specific scholarship criteria.

There are four types of Coventry University Scholarships: Sports Scholarships, Phoenix Scholarships, Academic Excellence Scholarships and EC Excellence Scholarships.

  • a cash payment of £500 (paid directly into your bank account).

Year 2

  • a fee waiver of £1,500;

Phoenix Scholarships require students to:

  • be entitled to a full Maintenance Grant (household income less than £25,000), and
  • obtain more than 260 UCAS points from three full A2-Levels or equivalent qualifications.

A proportion of these scholarships are reserved for students from Phoenix Partnership schools. The remainder are allocated to other qualifying students residing in England.

  • three full A2-Levels (e.g. ABB or above). General Studies and VCE Advanced Award can be included in the three full A-levels (VCE Double Advanced award counts as two full A-Levels); OR
  • an International Baccalaureate with at least 34 points; OR

Amount available

The award is either £1,000 cash or £1,500 discount a year on University-owned accommodation**.

** For Academic and EC Excellence Scholarships, please note that the following accommodation is not University owned: Sherbourne House, Raglan House, Callice Court, Paradise Hall and Victoria Hall. If you wish to select the accommodation discount you should check with the University Accommodation Team to ensure that your selected accommodation satisfies the scholarship criteria.

If a scholar selects the cash payment it will be made as two equal instalments directly to their bank account in March and May of their academic year. Discounts against the cost of University-owned accommodation will be allocated as two equal amounts against the January and April accommodation charges.

Successful students will continue to receive the Academic and EC Excellence Scholarship in later taught years of their course providing they achieve a course average mark of 65% or above.

Subject to satisfactory performance, the scholarship will be extended to the second and third year of the degree. This could mean an award of up to £3,000 or £4,500 during the length of your degree studies if you satisfy the renewal conditions each year.
