Here at Coventry University we have specific support in place for care leavers:
Outreach for Care Leavers
- Strong links with Local Authorities in Coventry and Warwickshire
- Excellent links with the After Care Project Team in Coventry
- Trained Progression Ambassadors to support care leavers in schools, colleges and at the After Care Project Centre to help them access Higher Education
- University Recruitment and Admissions visit local schools and colleges
- University Careers Advisers support local schools and colleges with information on how to access
Higher Education
- Easy access to Open Days, summer schools and taster days supported by trained Student Ambassadors
- Collaborative partnership with Warwick University providing information sessions specifically for care leavers
Transitional Support for Care Leavers
- Designated Welfare Officer to act as key contact at pre-entry and throughout the duration of the course
- Pre-entry support for all care leavers
- Invitation to personalised Open Day tailored to the care leavers needs
- Specific pre-induction summer school Welcome Event for care leavers to meet key staff and access information about financial support
- Access to the *Care Leavers Accommodation Support Scheme which provides free accommodation for the duration of your course in selected University accommodation with access to pastoral care from Student Wardens and Halls.
- 52 week guaranteed accommodation for the duration of the course in university accommodation with access to pastoral care from Student Wardens and Halls Officers N.B. Full-time students only
- Easy referral to specialist support within Student Services
- Easy access to an experienced Student Funding Officer to advise on funding available, assistance with funding applications and support throughout the course
On-course support for care leavers
- Designated Welfare Officer to act as key contact throughout the duration of the course
- Access to the Care Leavers Accommodation Support Scheme* which provides free accommodation for the duration of your course in selected University halls of residence with access to pastoral care from Student Wardens and Halls.

- Santander bursary providing free enrolment onto our Global Leaders Programme* including financial support with international trip
