How to Apply - Accommodation

Home and EU student Entry January 2016

Read more on The Coventry Student Accommodation Commitment for important information on next steps.

Applying for accommodation is not as daunting as it may seem. We here at Coventry University try to ensure that the process is made as simple as possible for you. With a few quick steps you'll be on your way to moving in and enjoying university life.

The process is slightly different if you are a FoundationCampus student or doing any other course such as Erasmus. So ensure you read the correct information.

Note: if you are visiting the University and need somewhere for you or your party to stay, we can help. You can read about our Summer and Short Term letting service here.

What is the first thing I need to know?

First thing is to find out what type of course offer you have received.

Unconditional Offer ( UF) : You will be able to submit an accommodation application and an offer of accommodation will be made online ( subject to availability)

Conditional Offer ( CF) : You will be able to submit an accommodation application, however your application will be held until we have had confirmation from UCAS and University academic conditions have been met.

Status changed to Unconditional Firm (UF)? On the basis you meet the academic requirements for the course you will then be offered accommodation ( subject to availability) .

What's next?

Now it is time to register online! For this you will need your: student ID, family name, date of birth, email address, and a password you create yourself.

When you access the online applications page and select login for the first time, you will need to Register, by clicking on the link highlighted on that page. You cannot proceed any further until you have carried out this process.

Once the registration is complete you will be sent a 6 digit Validation Code via the email address you have provided. This code is used to confirm that you can receive emails from us. Enter the code in the Validation Code box and click the continue button.

To log into the accommodation site, use your email address and password.

Please ensure that you have read our Terms and Conditions and the Licence to Occupy.

Last but not least...time to accept

All the hard work is done, now it is the easy part...accepting your offer.

Once an offer of accommodation is made to you via email, you have 3 days to accept the offer by:

  • confirming that you have read and agree to the terms and conditions;
  • pay your deposit of £300;
  • initiate a payment plan.

You should check your email account on a regular basis, so you can see when we have made an offer.  You need to accept the offer within the 3 days deadline. If you do not accept the offer it will be withdrawn and offered to another student. Students may reject the offer at this time if not satisfied. Please note that once you have rejected your offer of accommodation you will not be able to re-apply.

The small details...

You will need to be aware of the contract information. An offer of accommodation will only be sent when you have met all of your requirements to study at Coventry University. When accepting the contract online, you will be asked to pay an Advance Licence Fee deposit of £300 via the website using either a credit or debit card.

The licence to occupy is the legal contract where the regulations regarding your accommodation are explained in full.

Please read the licence to occupy, and terms and conditions carefully prior to accepting your contract.

Outside of the EU?

If you are coming from anywhere beyond the EU the you will need a Visa.

Student Accommodation will not process your accommodation application until:

  1. All conditions of the academic offer have been met;
  2. You have successfully obtained a relevant visa to study in the UK (subject to verification by Student Accommodation).

When you have obtained your student visa you must scan and forward a copy to Student Accommodation by email so that your accommodation application can be processed.

Are you sponsored?

If you are a sponsored student you may still be able to accept your offer online depending on how your accommodation fees are to be paid.

  • If your sponsor gives you the money to pay for your accommodation fees then you should still accept your offer online, setting up a recurring card payment or paying in full.
  • If your sponsor wishes to pay your accommodation fees directly to the University, then please contact Student Accommodation.
