Dr. Felix Röesch

I am presently Senior Lecturer in International Relations at Coventry University. Previously, I was a centre associate at the Jean Monnet Centre for Excellence at the Newcastle University as well as a visiting scholar at the Kansai University in Osaka and the Centre for Transatlantic Relations at the Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies, John Hopkins University in Washington. I gained a PhD in Politics from Newcastle University with a study on Hans J. Morgenthau's world-view. In addition, I hold a MA in International Studies from Newcastle University, a M.A. in Politics, Economics, and Intercultural Business Communication from the Friedrich-Schiller-University Jena, and a Diplome du Programme International from Sciences-Po Paris. My research focuses on International Political Theory and in particular I am working on the connections between classical realism and critical theory. I am also interested in intellectual history, knowledge transfer, and Japanese political thought. More specifically, I have looked in my research into conceptualising the public spehere, power, and aspects of social criticism. I also contributed to the elaboration of the world politics and popular culture nexus. Currently, I am working on projects exploring the concept of unlearning in International Relations and a theorisation of community beyond postcolonialism.
