Groupwork and the International Student
Course Overview
This practical session draws upon the useful publication, Finding Common Ground* to look at assessed group work involving culturally diverse groups.
Key questions are likely to be:
- How best to create groups?
- What works for assessment?
- The critical role of the task - is it truly collaborative?
- How to manage the almost inevitable intragroup misunderstandings and conflicts.
It will be a mix of big issues and small niggles - both turn out to be important in gaining the maximum learning benefit from this important site of intercultural interaction.
