Coventry University Sports Scholarships (limited)

This is an excellent Sports Scholarship support programme. Sports Scholarships are awarded competitively to approximately 30 new students each year who have the sporting ability to represent the University at a high level. Applications are open to all students participating in a sport recognised by Sport England

Sports Scholarships consist of two levels and offer either £1,500 or £3,000 in a mixture of cash and services per academic year.For more information see the Sport Scholarships pages or contact us at sportingexcellence.ss@coventry.ac.uk.

The Academic Merit Scholarship (unlimited) worth £1,500 - year one only 

At Coventry University we like to recognise those students who are already performing well when it comes to their education. The Coventry University Academic Merit Scholarship scheme is our chance to reward hard work and encourage those who have the potential to be an excellent undergraduate student.

The Academic Merit Scholarship recognises high academic achievement and is available to students who achieve a certain level of A-Level or equivalent qualifications.

Coventry University’s Academic Excellence scholarship is worth £1,500. It is assessed based on academic achievement and available to students who achieve 160 UCAS points or more. 

The basic criteria will be:

  • Starting the first year of an undergraduate course in 2020 at Coventry University (CU) or CU London Campus (CULC)
  • Achieve at least 160 UCAS points or above*

    *Points can be calculated using the UCAS Tariff Points calculator at www.ucas.com/ucas/tariff-calculator.

Certain exclusions will apply to this scholarship:

You will not be eligible to apply for a Coventry University Merit Scholarship if you are a:

  • Student on a Foundation Degree or Foundation Art and Design course
  • Student on an undergraduate foundation year (year zero)
  • Student studying on a franchised or validated Coventry University course at another institution (e.g. Coventry University College)
  • An overseas student – Please see the ‘International students’ webpage.
  • Student who is not charged the maximum tuition fee
  • Student already holding a degree qualification

How do I apply?

There will be no requirement to submit an application form as students will be identified automatically by the University and contacted after enrolment to confirm awards. Further details will be available on the website nearer to the time.

How will I be paid?

If eligible, a cash payment will usually be made in one instalment in the February of your first academic year.

Linda Benfield Scholarships

This scholarship is for UK female engineering undergraduates (2nd, 3rd and 4th years) and male and female health undergraduates (1st, 2nd, 3rd years)

  • Age range: 18-24
  • Bursary:  £1000
  • No. of scholarships: 10 (5 x Engineering and 5 x Health and Life Sciences)

NB - Only Coventry University students are eligible to apply i.e. not CU Coventry, CU London or Coventry University London

Santander bursaries for care leavers

This bursary provides automatic enrolment onto the Coventry University Global Leaders Programme (registration fee normally £300) and financial support designed to enable students to undertake the international trips offered through the programme.

To be eligible you must live in the UK, be under 25 years old, and have been in UK Local Authority care for at least 13 weeks since the age of 14.

Students should apply following September enrolment in 2020.

Ada Lovelace Scholarships

This scholarship is for first year UK and EU females studying the following subjects: Computer Science, Geography, Computing, Mathematics, Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Disaster Management, Architectural Technology, Information Technology, Motorsport Engineering and any other subjects in the School of Energy, Construction and Environment and the School of Computing, Electronics and Mathematics. (September/October intake only)

Please note any student in the School of Mechanical, Aerospace and Automotive Engineering  are not eligible and must apply for a Tata Technologies scholarship (see above).

  • Scholarship: £1000
  • No. of scholarships: 15

This bursary is for any UK engineering undergraduate with a home address with a B or CV postcode, studying one of the following degrees: Manufacturing Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Systems Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Computer Hardware and Software Engineering, Motorsport Engineering, Aerospace Technology, Highways and Transportation Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Mathematics and Statistics, Mathematics and Physics, Physics, Automotive and Transport Design.

  • Bursary: up to £1000
  • No. of scholarships: minimum 10
