The Faculty of Arts and Humanities hopes that you are all staying safe in these uncertain times. Creative activities can really help fill the days, while we are spending more time at home.
We have asked our academics and technicians to produce interesting artistic challenges and activities that you can do at home including whole host of events, activities, links and discussions. We are regularly thinking of new ways to connect with current students, applicants, offer holders and the community online. Keep an eye on this page for future developments.
Stay safe and enjoy!
Coventry Degree Show 2020
The Coventry Degree Show 2020 is going virtual this year! From 19th June you will be able to view work from our graduating designers, artists, performers, photographers, filmmakers and writers here. There will also be industry talks and opportunities to get in touch with students about their work. We hope to see you there (virtually of course!)
Fine Art
Our Fine Art BA students have also put their own website together to showcase their work which is worth a look.
Open Moodle
As the world is a little bit unusual at the moment and we aren’t able to hold open days, we have put together a portal where you can find out all about Coventry University’s School of Art and Design, what the city itself is like, see some of the work our students have produced and even get stuck into some example tasks (great to take your mind off other things!). You can access it all on the moodle page.
Lockdown art ideas
If you’re at home wondering what to do with yourself, we have lots of ways to help you fight the boredom and turn your energy into creativity. The video shows you how to make art at home with nothing but an egg brush and some coffee.
Follow the link to find out how to make pop up art and turn your doodles into designs. We’ll be updating the page with new isolation art ideas regularly.
National Saturday Art Club
Here at Coventry we are part of the National Saturday Art and Design Club initiative. Its free Art and Design sessions on Saturday mornings for 13-16 year olds. It runs year long and at the end of the year all the group get to exhibit their work in London. As with all exhibitions this year, this has gone virtual to ensure all the young talent we have is still shown and hard work celebrated. The work is AMAZING, from characterisation, collage to sculpture. It’s hard sometimes to keep motivated in these uncertain changing times so we are super proud of all of the work they are doing. Check more out on their Instagram account saturdayartclubcov or view our blog.
Coventry Sketchbook Project 2021
The Coventry Sketchbook project, part of the City of Culture project, was handing out 2021 sketchbooks leading up to 2021 to any one that would like to take part…documenting ‘their’ Coventry to be part of a cultural resource and exhibitions. Our MA Architecture students have created some amazing drawings of the city. If you are interested in a sketchbook email the team at covsketchbook@hotmail.com.
