PreTeach is a one-term short course for candidates who are about to embark on a Coventry University PGCE. PreTeach introduces you to the craft of the classroom and aims to help you to begin to develop your own standards and explore how to manage your time and wellbeing. You will also be introduced to the ways in which children learn as well as what to expect from your PGCE year.
For those wishing to have an opportunity to gain further knowledge and understanding of teaching, we also offer PreTeach Skill-Builder short courses. Skill-Builders are one school term in length and consist of four short courses, each concentrating on a specific teaching skill. There are 12 short courses to choose from, all of which are delivered online. Topics include how to manage pupil behaviour, how to plan a lesson, how to teach pupils of all abilities, and how to assess and mark.
This module is designed to provide students with the opportunity to conduct a study in an area of specific interest to them. The aim of the dissertation is to give students the chance to undertake an independent research at an advanced level. Students will be expected to demonstrate a complete understanding of the research process.
This clinically focused module aims to develop students’ knowledge and skills in the holistic management of patients with upper quadrant musculoskeletal disorders. The module emphasizes the development of expertise within the musculoskeletal field and as such adopts a clinical reasoning approach to patient management.
This module is designed to synthesise the theoretical and practical components developed through the core physiotherapy module and the specialist modules. Students will have the opportunity to work in a variety of clinical settings in order to further develop their skills in clinical reasoning and the integration of theory and practice.
