Dr. Durukan Kuzu

Dr Durukan Kuzu holds a PhD in Government and an MSc. in Comparative Politics from the London School of Economics and Political Science. He has taught courses on the theory and problems of nationalism in the Government Department at LSE between 2010 and 2013. He was the co-chair of the Association for the Study of Ethnicity and Nationalism, UK where he also conceived seminar series on Multiculturalism, Nationalism and the Politics of Gender. Dr. Kuzu is leading the Comparative Case Study Module for a new MPA (Master of Public Administration) course on Global Diversity Governance and acting as an independent Chair for the PhD Progress Review panels across Faculty and University Research Centres at Coventry. His research interests are centred on contemporary political philosophy, multiculturalism, nationalism, human rights, national minorities, comparative politics, mixed research methods, ethnic conflict, identity politics, Corsica, and the Kurdish question. Dr Kuzu’s latest book ‘Multiculturalism in Turkey: The Kurds and the State’ is under contract with Cambridge University Press. He has published in peer-reviewed journals such as Nations and Nationalism, Comparative European Politics, and the Journal on Ethno-politics and Minority Issues in Europe. His other works have also appeared in mainstream media such as CNN and Mail & Guardian and were featured in reports by several think tanks and inter-governmental organizations including Democratic Audit UK and International Organization for Migration (IOM). Dr. Kuzu is currently conducting a new mixed methods research project, funded by Coventry University, on multiculturalism in France and Corsican nationalism exploring the impact of identity politics on conflict, equalities and freedoms.
