My project title is ‘Large-scale climate impacts on river flows and floods across the North Atlantic region: Bases for future perspectives’. I am looking at interactions between large-scale climate and streamflow response with a special focus on floods. The complexity of climate interactions and impacts on streamflow in combination with catchment properties makes the manifestation of changes difficult to predict, especially under climate change where an increase in severe floods is expected. My research contributes to a better understanding of processes causing streamflow and floods and I will develop a model capable of accounting for non-stationarity in streamflow response. This will allow for adapting flood prediction models to climate change and keeping water management strategies viable in a future with changing climate.
