MY RESEARCH VISION

My research aims to look at how the changing digital world impacts upon learning and literacy practices. Digital technology is constantly evolving and engaging more and more people from a variety of backgrounds, thus I am interested in examining how this is impacting upon people of all ages and how digital technology can be harnessed to improve learning.

BIOGRAPHY

Sam Waldron graduated from Aston University with a BSc in Human Psychology in 2010. She originally started working as a research assistant based at Coventry University, within the Centre for Research in Psychology, Behaviour and Achievement, and has recently been promoted to senior research assistant. Her research interests focus mainly on the impact of new technologies upon language skills in both children and adults.

  • Chatterbooks for Secondary Schools: An 18 month project evaluating and extending the Reading Agency's Chatterbooks reading groups as a mechanism for raising reading achievement in underachieving secondary school pupils

  • Investigating the interrelationships between grammatical development and text messaging: A longitudinal study with primary, secondary and adult participants, looking at the impact of text messaging on grammar.
