Post-capitalist Creative Economy
Post-capitalist Creative Economy – another of the aims of the PCRC will be to envisage alternative forms for society and the economy in the 21st century world of Postdigital media cultures and pre-emptive, cognitive and contextual computing, beyond the all-pervasive algorithmic surveillance and control of market capitalism and its metrics. Exploring issues of big data, science visualization and mapping, along with the perspectives of “big history”, “deep time”, the “Capitalocene” and the “Anthropocene”, the Centre’s goal in this respect will be to facilitate new articulations of Postdigital culture that call for a radical rethinking of the relationship between the human, technology, the economy and the environment.
The CreativeCulture project aims to expand the GameChangers programme to address educational challenges within the context of inclusive learning for learners from the rural parts of Malaysia Borneo. CreativeCulture will involve collaborations with Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS), where we will explore, exploit and experiment the impact of arts, design and culture in enhancing creative thinking and development in education (primary and secondary K12) through game design and computational thinking as an approach and instrument for fostering creative problem solving and transcultural practices in Malaysia.
