Choose your course carefully
UCAS are very helpful and list all the courses which are open for Extra applications, so you don’t have to worry too much! But as you can only apply for one course at a time, you won’t want to rush your decision.
Take your time reading over course pages to find one that you’re interested in as they’re filled with lots of useful information. If you have the time, visit the University to really get an idea if it’s the place for you.
We run student-led tours which work around you, so you can visit the city and the buildings you could be studying in.
Play the tactical game
Now you might not want to ask yourself this question but it’s an actually really useful one: why were you unsuccessful before?
You’ve been given another opportunity to find the course of your dreams, so you want to make the right choice!
Make sure you carefully check entry requirements, as you might want to consider applying for a course with requirements closer to your predicted grades.
Or you might have selected a university which is really popular, so widening out your search or even combining subject areas could increase the probability!
Do I need a new personal statement?
We bet you were hoping to see the last of this pesky word combination! At the minute UCAS Extra doesn’t allow you to upload a new personal statement. So, what can you do if you’re changing courses completely?
Have no fear, we have the answer! Before you submit your Extra application, check with teh university you're wanting to apply to as to whether they will accept an updated personal statement.
If they say yes, prepare a new statement relevant to the new course you want to apply for – and remember to sell yourself!
This should then be emailed to the university, including your UCAS application number, once you’ve pressed submit. This will allow them to match your new, shiny statement to the correct application. Nothing to worry about!
