Culturae Mundi Centre
Coventry University is a vibrant mosaic of cultures, individuals, and interests learning and living together. Students are encouraged to share their cultures and learn from their peers cultivating an intercultural dialogue on campus. Capitalising on the University's diverse student body, the Culturae Mundi Centre at the Centre for Global Engagement offers various projects promoting multiculturalism and fostering acquisition of intercultural competences.
Our aim is to create a greater sense of community and foster inclusion and intercultural dialogue through transformative activities.
About the Culturae Mundi project
The Culturae Mundi project celebrates multiculturalism and multilingualism on campus and in the city through themed events and informal social activities. Students, staff and city residents come together to share and celebrate cultural diversity. Black History Month, Coventry Peace Festival, Chinese New Year, Music Nights and Film Screenings, Chinese Dumpling making, Turkish culture and language learning, and talking about their experience of studying abroad, are just a few examples of the varied programmes on offer. This sharing of cultures helps to promote mutual knowledge and understanding, and students gain an international experience without leaving Coventry.
Students from culturally diverse backgrounds and chosen courses of study work in partnership with staff to manage the programme, as well as plan and execute the activities. This gives them first-hand professional work experience in their chosen disciplines that is highly valued by future employers.
