Alison Gingell Building

Our Science and Health Building

The School of Health and Care at Coventry University is leading the way to equip our students and researchers with advanced facilities and a wide range of skills and experiences to help them make a positive impact on the world.

And at the heart of this is our new Alison Gingell Building, a beacon of success for the city of Coventry.

Our world-class facilities give students an opportunity to learn in situations that mirror real life scenarios.

Our students can take risks, innovate and experience situations that are made to feel as ‘real’ as possible as they learn in a secure and inspiring environment.

Our facilities

Learning through exploration and simulation

Creating the next generation of Health and Life Sciences leaders and life-changing research.

Research laboratories for life sciences, including chemistry, molecular biology and microbiology, physiotherapy and sports therapy treatment practice rooms.

A full patient pathway simulation for health subjects including a ‘working’ ambulance, mock hospital operating theatre, hospital ward, midwifery suite, consultation rooms, high dependency unit and orthotics laboratory.

Analytical laboratory for forensic science, environmental and geographical science and a roof garden area for social and therapeutic horticulture.

Specialist laboratories for sport science, biomechanics, strength and conditioning, a running track for gait analysis, an environmental chamber to measure athletic performance and a sports therapy clinic.

Two simulation community ‘houses’ that help students to practise home based support, investigations and assessments using assistive design and technology.

When choosing a University, the facilities were really important, and knowing that the new Science and Health Building was coming to Coventry was a big draw. The labs that offer simulation are really important in preparing us for our placements, and I’ve not visited anywhere else with facilities that rival what we’ll have access to in the new building.
